This course builds on the course “Basics in Literature Sear ching: PubMed and Other Resources”. It will deepen and complement your k nowledge on the important search functions needed for a specific and compr ehensive medical literature search. You will learn to build a systematic s earch strategy by extracting keywords (MeSH) and text words from reference s. Tips and tricks\, as well as saving and exporting search strategies and search results will be shared.

Important: This course is not identical to courses on 'AI in Scientific Writing'\, which focus on the process of writing scient ific texts. Here\, the focus is exclusively on the topic of literature sea rching.
\n\nThis course teaches the basics of how to use AI -supported tools in literature searching. AI-supported tools for literatur e searching will be categorized and their possibilities and risks discusse d. Selected tools and their specific applications are presented and explor ed.

Content

urse consists of a mix of classroom teaching on theory (mainly in the firs
t part) and interactive\, hands-on exercises and discussions (mainly in th
e second part):
· What are large language models (LLMs) and retrieva
l-augmented generation (RAG) tools?
· How does literature searching
using traditional databases differ from searching with LLMs and RAG tools\
, and what are the strengths and weaknesses of each approach?
· Whic
h approach is best suited for which tasks in literature searching (and aca
demic writing)?
· Introduction to Consensus - currently the RAG tool
licensed by the University Library and freely accessible to all members o
