Overview
Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are rapidly permeating nearly every stage of the scientific publication process, from initial research conception to dissemination. While this is a good development in terms for improving efficiency, it has many unintended consequences. These consequences arrise from the inherent limitations of current AI, the potential for misuse, and the disruption of established academic norms. Examples include the mass production of low-quality articles, the dissemination of rejected or outdated theories as new content, or the increase in publication pressure, leading to a new «AI or die» paradigm.
