SAGE – End of Grace Period (February 2026)
Negotiations between swissuniversities and SAGE for a 2026 Read & Publish agreement have not resulted in an agreement. The grace period during which access to newly published content was maintained has now ended.
Reading Access
- Articles published from 2026 onwards are currently not accessible (except Open Access articles).
- Access to previously subscribed years remains in place.
- Access information in swisscovery Basel is up to date.
How to obtain articles
If an article is not accessible, the following options are available:
1. Request via the University Library
- Order via swisscovery (digitisation button): CHF 5.00, usually within 24 hours
- Request from partner libraries via order form: CHF 5.00 to CHF12.00 (2–7 days)
2. Alternative routes
- Use tools such as Unpaywall
- Contact the corresponding author directly
Publishing
- Publishing in SAGE journals remains possible; however, articles will not be made Open Access under a Read & Publish agreement.
- Researchers are advised not to pay APCs.
- Please use Green Open Access (deposit of the Author Accepted Manuscript in edoc).
