Save the Date: The second edition of the SciLib Forum “AI in Charge or Human in the Loop? Maintaining Scientific Ownership in the Age of Generative AI" will take place on 22 & 23 September 2026 at the University Medical Library in Basel.

The SciLib Forum is a focused training and discussion event conducted in English and designed for academic researchers, particularly PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scholars, who are interested in integrating generative AI into their scientific writing processes and research workflows.

Generative AI is rapidly changing the way researchers write, review, evaluate, and communicate science. As AI tools become increasingly capable of synthesising literature, drafting manuscripts, and shaping research outputs, a fundamental question emerges: Who is actually in charge? Are researchers still the primary authors, using AI as a tool to support their work, or are they increasingly becoming editors of AI-generated science?
