Negotiations with Wiley for a agreement starting in 2025 began in spring 2024 but have now been terminated, leading to a no-deal situation

Negotiations between swissuniversities and Wiley regarding a new journal agreement on reading access and open-access publishing ended in March 2025. Swiss higher education institutions decided to withdraw as Wiley's latest offer was deemed unacceptable. The proposed offer would have reinforced the traditional subscription-based journal model, contradicting the goals of the national Open Access strategy, which aims to promote and sustainably secure open access to publicly funded research.
